  • Will the U.S. invade Cuba in 2026?

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the United States commences a military offensive intended to establish control over any portion of Cuban land territory by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". For the purposes of this market, land de facto controlled by Cuba or the United States as market creation, will be considered the sovereign territory of that country. The resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible sources.

Despite heightened U.S. sanctions, an oil import blockade launched in February 2026, and public regime-change rhetoric under the Trump administration, traders assign only a 9% probability to invasion this year. Primary drivers include the administration's preference for maximum-pressure economic tools and diplomatic overtures over direct military action, alongside political risks from an ongoing Iran conflict and upcoming midterm elections. Pentagon planning discussions have examined limited options such as airstrikes or special operations, yet analysts cite substantial logistical hurdles, Cuban defensive capacity, and the absence of an acute trigger like a major incident. No large-scale troop movements or formal authorization have materialized by mid-August, reinforcing market consensus that full invasion remains unlikely absent major escalation.
