This market will resolve to "Yes" if the United States commences a military offensive intended to establish control over any portion of Iran by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". For the purposes of this market, land de facto controlled by Iran or the United States as of November 4, 2025 12:00 PM ET, will be considered the sovereign territory of that country. The resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible sources.
Ongoing U.S. military operations against Iran since February 2026 have consisted of airstrikes, a naval blockade, and targeted strikes on military infrastructure rather than ground forces, with the Trump administration emphasizing sanctions, economic pressure, and mediated talks through Oman to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. A June memorandum of understanding unraveled amid renewed vessel attacks and mutual accusations, prompting additional U.S. strikes into August but no shift toward large-scale troop deployment. Public polling indicates limited support for sustained operations, while analysts highlight high costs, logistical demands, and congressional constraints under the War Powers Resolution as barriers to invasion. These factors sustain trader consensus around an 82.5% probability of no U.S. invasion before 2027, favoring air, naval, and diplomatic tools over boots-on-the-ground conflict.
