This market will resolve to "Yes" if Russia commences a military offensive intended to establish control over any portion of any UN member state's territory, other than Ukraine's, by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". For the purposes of this market, land de facto controlled by any UN member state, as of market creation, will be considered the sovereign territory of that country. The resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting.
Russia's ongoing military campaign in Ukraine continues to dominate its strategic priorities and resources as of late August 2026, with forces advancing slowly in Donbas areas such as around Slovyansk while facing Ukrainian counteroffensives and long-range strikes on Russian energy infrastructure. Vladimir Putin has reiterated maximalist objectives centered on Ukrainian territory rather than opening new fronts, amid domestic focus on September State Duma elections and economic strains from attrition warfare. Speculation about possible limited provocations toward NATO neighbors lacks evidence of operational preparations or intent for a full-scale new invasion before year-end. Trader consensus reflected in the 93.5% probability for "No" aligns with these constraints on Russian capacity and the absence of verifiable shifts toward additional territorial aggression within the resolution window.
