This market will resolve to “Yes” if the listed individual officially announces that they are running for U.S. President in the 2028 United States presidential election by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An announcement by the listed individual will be sufficient to trigger a "Yes" resolution, regardless of whether they actually filed a nomination to run, or whether they actually file a nomination to run in the future. A qualifying announcement must be explicit and unambiguous. Conditional statements, or statements that are clearly sarcastic, made in jest, or immediately clarified as not being genuine will not count. The primary resolution source for this market will be official statements by the listed individual (ex: via speech, social media, etc.), however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

No major candidates have formally announced 2028 presidential bids as of late August 2026, with the field still forming amid positioning by figures such as Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, California Governor Gavin Newsom, former Vice President Kamala Harris, and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. The 22nd Amendment bars President Donald Trump from another term, shifting focus to potential successors while Democrats navigate an open contest. Recent signals include Buttigieg stating he is more inclined than not to run, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez declining to rule out a bid, and Senator Chris Van Hollen describing exploratory steps; early polling and prediction markets show Vance leading Republican contenders and a fragmented Democratic field. The November 2026 midterms represent the next major catalyst, as several potential contenders have indicated they will assess prospects afterward, with formal announcements widely expected to accelerate through 2027 ahead of the revised Democratic primary calendar.
