This market will resolve to “Yes” if the listed individual officially announces that they are running for U.S. President in the 2028 United States presidential election by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An announcement by the listed individual will be sufficient to trigger a "Yes" resolution, regardless of whether they actually filed a nomination to run, or whether they actually file a nomination to run in the future. The primary resolution source for this market will be official statements by the listed individual (ex: via speech, social media, etc.), however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
Potential 2028 presidential contenders continue positioning through exploratory activities and public statements, with no major formal announcements recorded as of mid-August 2026. Democratic figures such as Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer, and Andy Beshear have drawn attention for testing the waters via interviews and clarifications on intentions, while Republican names like JD Vance appear in broader discussions. Historical patterns show campaign launches often accelerate after midterm elections, with early 2027 likely to see increased activity ahead of primaries. Key upcoming catalysts include the November 2026 midterms, which could shift party dynamics and candidate calculations, alongside any official exploratory committee filings or endorsements that might prompt earlier declarations before the 2027 deadline.
