This market will resolve to "Yes" if Donald Trump publicly and unequivocally announces that he is removing Lisa Cook as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, or takes formal action toward doing so, such as issuing a directive or formal request, between market creation and the listed date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. Statements which are contingent (e.g. “Cook must step down”), statements of intent (e.g.“I am planning to fire Cook) or other informal statements which are not unequivocal will not qualify. If Lisa Cook resigns or otherwise formally departs her role as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors prior to a qualifying action, this market will immediately resolve to "No". The resolution source will be official information from Donald Trump; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
President Trump renewed efforts to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook in August 2026 by sending formal notice of potential dismissal over unproven 2021 mortgage fraud allegations first raised by Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte. The Supreme Court’s 5-4 June 2026 ruling blocked an earlier August 2025 attempt on procedural due-process grounds while preserving the statutory “for cause” standard that shields Fed governors from at-will removal. Cook’s attorney responded on August 26 denying any intentional misconduct or preferential loan terms and vowing to litigate further. Cook’s term runs until 2038, no criminal charges have been filed, and any new firing would likely trigger immediate court review testing the limits of presidential authority over the central bank.
