If any NATO member country invokes Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty at any time between November 5, 2025 and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Yes". Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from NATO (nato.int), however a consensus of credible media will also suffice.

NATO’s Article 5 collective-defense clause has not been invoked since 2001, and recent U.S. intelligence assessments indicate Russia is more likely to probe alliance resolve through limited, ambiguous actions—such as cyberattacks, sabotage, or small-scale hybrid moves—than a clear armed attack on member territory before 2027. U.S. reports from August 2026 note that any Russian test could occur between fall 2026 and 2029 but assess the probability of a land incursion high enough to trigger Article 5 as low, partly because Moscow still faces constraints from the Ukraine conflict. NATO’s July 2026 Ankara summit produced a formal reaffirmation of “ironclad” commitment to Article 5 by all 32 members, including the United States, while European allies accelerate defense spending and force contributions under the emerging “NATO 3.0” burden-sharing framework. Ongoing U.S. troop-posture reviews and diplomatic signaling have introduced uncertainty about response speed, yet no verified incident has crossed the threshold for invocation, and recent airspace violations in Poland and Romania prompted only condemnation rather than Article 5 consultations. These factors underpin traders’ strong expectation that the clause will remain untriggered through the end of 2026.
