  • Will China invade Taiwan by September 30, 2026?<1¢

This market will resolve to "Yes" if China commences a military offensive intended to establish control over any portion of the Republic of China (Taiwan) by September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Territory under the administration of the Republic of China, including any inhabited islands, will qualify; however, uninhabited islands will not qualify. The resolution source for this market will be official confirmation by China, Taiwan, the United Nations, or any permanent member of the UN Security Council; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.

Taiwan's ongoing Han Kuang military exercises through mid-August 2026, featuring record reservist mobilization and supply-chain resilience tests, underscore defensive preparations amid routine PLA air and maritime activity around the island. No verifiable large-scale amphibious buildup, force concentrations, or logistical indicators required for a cross-strait invasion have emerged in recent weeks, consistent with assessments that sustained coercion rather than kinetic action defines current PRC strategy. The compressed timeline to September 30 further limits realistic pathways, as any offensive would demand observable preparations well in advance. Trader consensus at 99.1% for "No" reflects this absence of escalatory signals alongside enduring economic interdependence and diplomatic channels. Unforeseen triggers such as a major provocation or leadership miscalculation remain theoretically possible but face steep operational and political barriers in the immediate period.
