Incumbent Republican Pete Sessions secured the nomination unopposed in the March 2026 primary for Texas's 17th congressional district and faces Democratic nominee Casey Shepard in the November general election. The seat carries a Cook Partisan Voter Index of R+10 following 2025 redistricting, with recent presidential results showing Republican margins of roughly 22-26 points. Nonpartisan forecasters rate the race Solid Republican or Safe Republican. Trader consensus reflects the district's established partisan composition, Sessions' consistent reelection margins above 65 percent, and the absence of competitive primary opposition or major late-cycle developments. A substantial national shift in turnout patterns, unforeseen scandal, or significant health event could alter the outlook, though structural factors continue to anchor current pricing.
