Incumbent Republican Dan Patrick holds a substantial edge in trader consensus for the Texas lieutenant governor race due to his long tenure since 2015, strong primary performance, and overwhelming fundraising advantage exceeding $24 million in cash on hand compared to Democrat Vikki Goodwin’s roughly $643,000. Recent October 2026 polling shows a tighter contest than historical norms, with some surveys placing Goodwin within a few points or slightly ahead amid broader Democratic momentum in statewide races, though Patrick maintains leads among key demographics such as rural, suburban, and higher-income voters. Early voting begins October 19 ahead of the November 3 general election, where minor-party candidates including Libertarian and Green nominees factor into the multi-candidate field.
