Regional elections to elect the Regional Council of Region Kalmar, Sweden are scheduled to take place on September 13, 2026. This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Chair of the Regional Board of Region Kalmar County following the 2026 Swedish regional elections. To count for resolution, the individual must be formally elected by the relevant regional council as Chair of the Regional Board. Any interim or caretaker Chair will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Chair takes office by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Sweden and Region Kalmar County; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Angelica Katsanidou (S) leads at 82.5% as the incumbent regionstyrelsens ordförande since 2019 and leader of the governing Socialdemokraterna-Centerpartiet-Vänsterpartiet coalition that holds a narrow majority in Region Kalmar län. Regional elections on September 13, 2026, will determine the next council composition, after which the board chair is formally elected; traders assign her the highest probability because the current coalition has governed stably and no major shifts in polling or alliances have emerged in recent weeks. Lower-priced alternatives such as Karin Helmersson (C, current vice chair) at 3.4% and Malin Sjölander (M, opposition) at 3.1% reflect their respective party roles but limited prospects of assuming the top post without a coalition change. The many 50% generic candidate entries indicate low-information positioning ahead of the vote. No late-breaking developments have altered the established political structure in the final days before the election.
