Regional elections to elect the Regional Council of Region Blekinge, Sweden are scheduled to take place on September 13, 2026. This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Chair of the Regional Board of Region Blekinge following the 2026 Swedish regional elections. To count for resolution, the individual must be formally elected by the relevant regional council as Chair of the Regional Board. Any interim or caretaker Chair will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Chair takes office by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Sweden and Region Blekinge; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
Lars Markus Hildingsson leads the market at 67% implied probability as the Social Democrats’ top candidate for Region Blekinge’s next board chair. He was nominated in late 2025 to head the party’s regional list after Christina Mattisson stepped aside, bringing union leadership experience from Byggnads and prior local roles in Karlskrona. This positioning has strengthened his standing ahead of the September 2026 election. Hanna Ekblad (Moderate) at 17.6% and current chair Björn Tenland Nurhadi (Sweden Democrats) at 15% reflect the existing SD-M-KD coalition’s influence, though recent list finalizations and party congress outcomes have consolidated Hildingsson’s frontrunner status among traders. Low probabilities for other named candidates and “Other” align with the concentrated field of major-party contenders. Upcoming election results and post-election coalition talks will determine the outcome.
