Parliamentary elections to elect the Landtag of Sachsen-Anhalt are scheduled to take place on September 6, 2026. This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Ministerpräsident of Sachsen-Anhalt following the specified elections. To count for resolution, the individual must be officially sworn in. Any interim or caretaker Chief Minister will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Chief Minister takes office by May 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Landtag of Sachsen-Anhalt; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Sven Schulze, the incumbent CDU Ministerpräsident who assumed office in January 2026 after Reiner Haseloff's early exit, holds the lead in the market for the next head of Saxony-Anhalt's government ahead of the September 6 Landtag election. Recent Infratest dimap polling shows the AfD at 42 percent with Ulrich Siegmund as its top candidate, well ahead of the CDU at 22 percent, yet the AfD lacks viable coalition partners as other parties maintain a firewall against cooperation. A televised duel between Schulze and Siegmund on August 26 highlighted these divides, with Schulze remaining noncommittal on potential Left support for a minority government while the AfD pushes for sole rule. Trader pricing reflects the structural barriers to an AfD-led administration despite its polling strength, with outcomes hinging on final seat distributions and post-election negotiations among the CDU, SPD, Greens, and Left.
