Incumbent Republican Victoria Spartz holds a clear edge in Indiana’s 5th congressional district, a seat with an R+8 partisan voter index that has not elected a Democrat since 1990. Recent developments have narrowed her projected margin, including the Cook Political Report’s October shift from Solid Republican to Likely Republican amid weaker national GOP polling, alongside Spartz’s $450,000 campaign loan reported mid-October. Democratic challenger state Sen. J.D. Ford has raised $1.3 million and released an internal July poll showing a near tie, while both campaigns have traded attacks over stock trading and campaign tactics. Prediction market pricing reflects these fundamentals and the district’s structural Republican advantage heading into the November 3 general election, while still assigning meaningful probability to an upset in the final weeks.
