Taiwanese local elections are scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Mayor of Hsinchu City as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder Mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).

Incumbent Ann Kao, running as an independent after her Taiwan People’s Party membership lapsed during a 2024-2025 suspension, holds a commanding position in the November 28, 2026 Hsinchu City mayoral race. Her reinstatement following a December 2025 High Court ruling that largely cleared corruption charges enabled her to resume office and build momentum. The Kuomintang has opted against fielding a candidate to honor its opposition coordination agreement, with both KMT and TPP leaders publicly backing her registration on September 2. DPP nominee Chuang Ching-cheng and independent Ho Chih-yung face structural disadvantages in a city with a young, highly educated electorate that aligns with Kao’s profile. Recent polling and the absence of viable pan-blue fragmentation reinforce trader consensus around her re-election prospects.
