Incumbent Democrat Joe Courtney seeks an eleventh term in Connecticut’s 2nd congressional district, a seat rated Solid Democratic by multiple forecasters including the Cook Political Report. The district carries a D+4 partisan voter index and gave the Democratic presidential nominee a narrow edge in 2024, while Courtney has maintained consistent reelection margins above 15 points. His substantial fundraising lead over Republican George Austin, combined with unopposed primary advancement for both nominees, reinforces the current trader consensus reflected in the 94.5% implied probability for the Democratic outcome. A major scandal, health event, or unexpectedly strong national Republican environment could narrow the gap, though historical patterns and structural factors make such shifts unlikely before November.
