This market will resolve to “Yes” if the United States federal government formally charges or announces a criminal indictment of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel between market creation and June 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from US governmental sources, however a wide consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
US-Cuba relations remain strained under the current administration, with ongoing diplomatic pressure on Havana through sanctions, designations, and legal actions targeting regime figures. The May 2026 federal indictment of former leader Raúl Castro for the 1996 Brothers to the Rescue shootdown marked the first such charges against senior Cuban leadership in decades and drew sharp criticism from President Miguel Díaz-Canel as politically motivated. No comparable proceedings have targeted Díaz-Canel, whose responses have emphasized self-defense claims and rejected external interference. Traders monitor executive branch statements, DOJ filings in Florida courts, and any shifts in policy priorities for signals that could alter the low implied probability of charges. No major scheduled events or policy deadlines directly tied to this outcome appear imminent.
