Recent monthly Google Trends data show a fragmented field for 2026’s #2 most-searched person, with no single figure dominating year-to-date volumes. Athletes such as Erling Haaland benefit from Norway’s World Cup run, viral social media moments, and platform algorithms amplifying goal-scoring highlights, while entertainers like Sydney Sweeney and Bad Bunny gain from film releases, Super Bowl performances, and music campaigns that sustain search spikes. Political and legacy names including Donald Trump and Lionel Messi maintain baseline interest through ongoing headlines and career milestones. With resolution tied to Google’s official Year in Search report and only weeks remaining, late-breaking events or sustained engagement across platforms could shift the narrow market-implied odds among the top contenders.
This market will resolve according to the individual ranked #2 in Google’s official Year in Search Global "People" list for 2026. The specified list is expected to be displayed on the Google Trends Year in Search hub, with location selected to Global. The navigation procedure as of market creation involves going to trends.withgoogle.com/year-in-search/ and clicking through Global → Trending → People. This market will resolve based on the specified list regardless of navigation procedure. This market may resolve as soon as the specified list for 2026 is released. If Google does not release the specified list by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other.” The resolution source for this market will be the specified list as published by Google.
