This market will resolve according to the winner of the Democratic Primary for Governor of Rhode Island, scheduled to take place on September 8, 2026. Resolution will be based on the overall winner of the primary, including any potential second round or run-off. If no 2026 Rhode Island Gubernatorial Democratic Primary takes place, this market will resolve to “Other.” The resolution source for this market will be the first official announcement of the results from the Rhode Island Democratic Party; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may suffice.
Helena Foulkes maintains a commanding lead in Rhode Island’s Democratic gubernatorial primary due to consistent polling advantages of roughly 20 points over incumbent Dan McKee in recent surveys from the Pell Center and others, reflecting stronger support among Democratic primary voters and independents. As a former CVS executive with prior statewide name recognition from her 2022 challenge, Foulkes has secured key endorsements such as from Attorney General Peter Neronha, demonstrated robust fundraising, and benefited from McKee’s elevated disapproval ratings. The September 9 primary’s proximity leaves limited time for shifts, though the roughly 22 percent undecided share and any unusually low turnout could theoretically alter the outcome in McKee’s favor. Minor candidates hold negligible support.
