  • Will Russia invade a NATO country by December 31, 2026?2¢2%

NATO’s revised defense planning, reported in early November 2026, envisions conventional deep strikes into Russian territory to disrupt bases, supply networks, and industrial facilities supporting any attack on alliance soil, reflecting lessons from the Ukraine conflict. Russian officials have countered with explicit warnings about defending Kaliningrad by all means and Putin’s October statements that Moscow is prepared for conflict with Europe while denying offensive intent. Persistent hybrid activities—including airspace incursions, alleged sabotage of defense firms, drone incidents, and strikes near Bulgarian waters—have raised concerns among intelligence services about potential limited probes of Article 5 resolve, though assessments continue to judge a major conventional invasion unlikely in the near term. Upcoming peace talks and NATO capability targets through 2029 remain key variables that could influence escalation risks.

Szabályok

This market will resolve to "Yes" if Russia commences a military offensive intended to establish control over any portion of any NATO country by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". For the purposes of this market, land de facto controlled by NATO member states or Russia as of May 28, 2025, will be considered the sovereign territory of those countries. Hybrid or “grey zone” operations conducted by unmarked personnel will qualify if they are confirmed to be Russian operatives and are intended to establish de facto control over territory, as occurred in Crimea (2014) or Donbas (2014–2022). The resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible sources.
