Katie Zacharia assumed the role of White House press secretary on October 12, 2026, following President Trump's announcement days earlier, and conducted her first briefing on October 13. That session, though brief at roughly 14 minutes and limited to three questions, included official announcements on ambassadorial matters and aligned with standard administration messaging on policy priorities. Trump publicly praised her performance afterward, and no subsequent statements or actions from the White House indicate a change in her position. With the midterms approaching and the administration maintaining its regular communications schedule, trader consensus reflects the expectation that Zacharia will continue performing core duties, including additional briefings, in the near term.
This market will resolve to “Yes” if Katie Zacharia leads a White House press briefing as White House Press Secretary between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. Resolution is based on who actually delivers the briefing from the podium, not on who is listed or announced in advance. Katie Zacharia will not qualify if she appears at a briefing only as a guest, or speaks only after being introduced by the individual leading the briefing. For the purposes of this market, a White House press briefing is an event listed on the public White House schedule as a press briefing. "New Media" briefings and special briefings including additional guests will qualify, so long as Katie Zacharia leads the briefing. Impromptu press gaggles, and remarks that are not listed on the public schedule as a press briefing, will not qualify. If Katie Zacharia jointly leads a qualifying briefing with another individual, the briefing will qualify. A briefing will only qualify if Katie Zacharia is White House Press Secretary at the time of the briefing. This market will resolve based on footage of the briefing, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting.
