This market will resolve according to "Yes" if the listed type of consumer hardware product is publicly announced by OpenAI by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The announcement of a qualifying consumer hardware product within the market timeframe will suffice, regardless of whether or when the product is released. If a device fulfills multiple device categories, then all relevant categories will resolve to "Yes". The resolution source will be official information from OpenAI.
OpenAI has yet to announce any consumer hardware in 2026, with activity centered on software releases such as the GPT-5.6 model family, ChatGPT Work agent for enterprise workflows, Codex desktop expansions, and healthcare integrations. Longstanding rumors of a Jony Ive-designed device—described as a screenless puck-shaped wearable with voice and sensor capabilities—point to a 2027 debut, creating uncertainty for 2026 resolution criteria. Traders price earbuds or headphones highest amid speculation on voice-first or wearable form factors, while competitive pressure from Anthropic agents and internal AGI roadmap goals (automated researcher by 2028) reinforce focus on model and platform advances over new hardware categories before year-end.
