SpaceX’s June 2026 Nasdaq listing under ticker SPCX at a $1.77 trillion valuation triggered immediate fast-track eligibility for the Nasdaq-100 but left it ineligible for the S&P 500. S&P Dow Jones Indices retained its profitability screen and 12-month seasoning requirement, and the company posted a $4.94 billion GAAP loss in 2025 with continued operating shortfalls into 2026. These structural barriers, confirmed in June committee guidance, underpin the 98% market-implied probability against 2026 inclusion. While lock-up releases and quarterly results could pressure shares, realistic tail risks remain limited to an unexpected profitability inflection or discretionary rule adjustment by year-end.
The S&P 500 undergoes quarterly reconstitution on the third Friday of March, June, September, and December. This market will resolve to "Yes" if S&P Global Inc. announces that SpaceX will be added to the S&P 500 index by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No." An announcement from S&P will qualify for a "Yes" resolution, regardless of whether the listed company has actually been added to the S&P 500 index by the resolution date. The primary resolution source will be official announcements from S&P Global Inc. (https://www.spglobal.com/en/press/press-release).
