Tomáš Chovanec leads the market at 41.4% amid ongoing coalition talks following the October 2026 communal elections, where his HOPB/STAN alliance secured nine seats. Naše Česko won the most mandates at 15 under incumbent Dagmar Škodová Parmová but faces exclusion after other parties cited differences in political style, shifting the contest to negotiations among HOPB/STAN, ANO, Piráti, and Společně pro Budějovice. These groups hold enough seats for a narrow majority, positioning Chovanec as the frontrunner for mayor while Viktor Lavička and others factor into potential deputy roles. The spread across multiple candidates captures the fluid bargaining over leadership and portfolios, with outcomes hinging on final agreements in the coming days.
Municipal elections are currently scheduled to be held in Czechia on October 9-10, 2026. The next mayor of České Budějovice will be elected by the newly constituted council following the 2026 Czech municipal elections. This market will resolve to the first individual who officially assumes the role of Mayor of České Budějovice following the 2026 Czech municipal elections. A qualifying individual must be elected mayor by the city council. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Czechia and České Budějovice.
