Holger Rune enters the European Open first-round matchup against Raphael Collignon on indoor hard courts as the consensus favorite, reflecting his five ATP titles and prior top-4 pedigree despite a current ranking of 195. The Dane received a wild card after an 11-month absence from a ruptured Achilles tendon, posting Davis Cup wins in September but dropping his opening ATP matches in Tokyo and Shanghai in early October. Collignon, ranked 50th and the home player in Brussels, brings stronger recent results and a 2026 win rate near 65 percent, including victories over established opponents. This is their first meeting, with Rune’s serve and experience offset by limited match fitness against Collignon’s consistent baseline game and local support.
