Incumbent KMT Mayor Chang San-cheng holds a commanding lead in the November 28 Taoyuan mayoral election, reflected in the 93% trader consensus on Polymarket. Recent polls show him ahead by more than 20 points over DPP nominee Huang Shih-chieh, driven by 58% voter satisfaction with his record on infrastructure such as MRT expansions, the Aerotropolis project, and science park development, plus stronger name recognition. Huang’s campaign has emphasized support for new immigrants and cross-cultural services, but limited visibility and the short remaining timeline constrain any shift. Ballot numbers were drawn in late October, with the race entering its final stretch amid stable KMT positioning. Scenarios that could alter the outcome include unexpected turnout swings or late-breaking local issues before election day.
