President Trump's second term has featured active bilateral diplomacy centered on managing U.S.-China competition, advancing trade deals, and addressing conflicts in Ukraine, the Middle East, and Iran. His May 2026 state visit to Beijing produced agreements on purchases and new bilateral mechanisms, with Xi Jinping scheduled for a reciprocal Washington visit in September. Additional engagements have included meetings with European, Middle Eastern, and Indian leaders alongside multilateral forums such as the G7. Stalled negotiations on Gaza and Ukraine, plus tariff and security frictions with major powers, continue to shape scheduling priorities and potential high-level encounters through year-end summits like APEC. Trader focus often tracks confirmation of specific leader visits against these broader geopolitical pressures and the administration's emphasis on reciprocal deals.
