The next Göttingen mayoral election is scheduled to be held on September 13, 2026, to elect the mayor of Göttingen, Germany (Oberbürgermeister der Stadt Göttingen). A runoff election is scheduled for September 27, 2026, if no candidate receives more than half of the valid votes in the first round. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next mayor of Göttingen as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by April 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to “Other.” The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting; however, if there is any ambiguity in the results, this market will resolve according to official information from the Stadt Göttingen, including its election office and municipal election committee.

The open mayoral seat in Göttingen, with incumbent Petra Broistedt (SPD) not seeking re-election, has produced a four-candidate field ahead of the September 13 first-round vote. Florian Dinger (SPD), Onyeka Oshionwu (Greens, backed by Volt), Ehsan Kangarani (CDU, backed by FDP), and Thomas Goes (Left) each draw from distinct voter bases in a city where education, housing affordability, environmental policy, and local administration rank as key concerns. The absence of an incumbent and the prospect of a September 27 runoff if no candidate exceeds 50 percent have kept implied probabilities tightly clustered, reflecting trader assessment of fragmented support and limited recent polling or decisive campaign events. Further separation could emerge from turnout patterns among younger voters or students, cross-party endorsements, or final-week visibility on fiscal and sustainability priorities.
