This market will resolve to "Yes" if Apple Maps displays "Lake America," "Lake of America," or a similar name including both "Lake" and "America" as the label for the body of water currently known as the "Lake Ontario" for the majority of users within the United States by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. Changes which appear only in experimental features or subnational regional variants will not qualify for a “Yes” resolution. If both "Lake America" and "Lake Ontario" are used to label the body of water, this will qualify for a “Yes” resolution. The resolution source will be Apple Maps; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

President Trump's August 27 executive order directed the Interior Department to update the U.S. Geographic Names Information System with “Lake America” for the Great Lake amid an escalating trade dispute with Canada, mirroring the prior “Gulf of America” precedent. Google Maps implemented the change for U.S. users within days, citing its policy of aligning with official federal sources, while Canadian users retain the original name and international users see both. Apple followed on September 1 after direct outreach from the administration, with the update rolling out gradually to U.S. devices. These confirmed government and corporate actions have shaped trader consensus around rapid compliance timelines, though full propagation and any legal or diplomatic pushback remain variables within the resolution window.
