The Cleveland Guardians enter this AL Central series at Progressive Field holding a clear edge in the standings at 70-70, sitting in the second wild-card spot, while the Tigers sit at 64-75 and trail by 5.5–8.5 games. Guardians left-hander Foster Griffin (15-4, 3.21 ERA) anchors one end of a doubleheader against Detroit’s Keider Montero (9-8, 3.24 ERA) and Andrew Sears (0-1, 6.75 ERA), giving Cleveland stronger rotation depth and home-field familiarity. Detroit continues to manage an extensive injured list that includes starters Jack Flaherty and Justin Verlander plus several position players, limiting lineup flexibility and recent momentum. The Guardians’ recent form and head-to-head history against the Tigers further support their favored positioning in the matchup.
