Arthur Fils enters the US Open first-round matchup against Stefanos Tsitsipas as the clear favorite, buoyed by his recent Cincinnati Masters 1000 title and a perfect 5-0 head-to-head record, including a dominant 6-0 6-1 hard-court win in Miami earlier in 2026. The 22-year-old Frenchman, now ranked No. 11, has shown powerful serving, heavy topspin forehands, and strong results against top opponents in the lead-up. Tsitsipas, dropped to No. 53 amid inconsistent results and a recent Winston-Salem loss, reunites with coach Patrick Mouratoglou for the hard-court Slam but faces a steep challenge against Fils' current momentum and athletic baseline game on outdoor hard courts. The draw positions the winner for potentially tougher later rounds.
