Arthur Fery, the world No. 37 and No. 4 seed, enters this Winston-Salem Open round-of-32 clash with a significant edge in experience and recent form after a career-best Wimbledon semifinal run and a third-round showing at the Cincinnati Open. The 24-year-old Brit has compiled a strong 2026 record and demonstrated composure in high-stakes matches on multiple surfaces. Across the net, 17-year-old wildcard Cruz Hewitt, ranked around No. 368, arrives with momentum from a gritty three-set comeback victory over Sebastian Gorzny in the first round, building on an earlier tour-level win in Washington. Hewitt lacks prior head-to-head history against Fery and main-draw consistency at this level, though his recent resilience and hard-court results highlight emerging potential against a clear favorite. The outdoor hard-court matchup favors the more seasoned player.
