Daniel Altmaier enters the Winston-Salem Open second round with a first-round bye as the higher-ranked player (around No. 57–65) facing Francisco Comesana (No. 109–123), who advanced with a straight-sets win over Yibing Wu on outdoor hard courts. The pair split their prior meetings 1–1, with Altmaier prevailing in five sets on hard at the 2025 Australian Open and Comesana taking a clay-court match in Rome. Both players carry sub-.450 win rates for the 2026 season, reflecting inconsistent form across recent hard-court events in Cincinnati and Montreal. Serve and return metrics are closely aligned, though Altmaier shows a modest edge on second-serve returns in recent data, supporting trader consensus around an even-money matchup on this surface.
