Ann Kao’s incumbency, recent acquittal on corruption charges, and reinstatement as Hsinchu City mayor have consolidated trader support at 87.5% for her reelection on November 28. Running as an independent with reported KMT and TPP backing, she benefits from a divided opposition featuring DPP candidate Chuang Ching-cheng at 12.3% and independent Ho Chih-yung at 0.1%. Recent grassroots efforts, including market walks and support association launches, reinforce her local visibility in a key technology hub. The market’s pricing reflects the structural edge of an unopposed incumbent path and limited evidence of momentum shifts for challengers in the final weeks.
