Early in the 2026-27 Premier League season after nine matchweeks, Sunderland sit bottom on five points while Nottingham Forest (six) and Crystal Palace (seven, with a -12 goal difference) occupy the other relegation spots. Manchester United and Coventry City hover just above on seven and nine points respectively, reflecting poor early form and defensive vulnerabilities. Promoted sides Hull City and Ipswich Town remain in mid-table contention but face tough upcoming fixtures against Arsenal and Bournemouth. Recent results, including Brighton's attacking surge and Arsenal's defensive solidity, have widened the gap between the top and bottom, shaping trader consensus around the bottom six as the primary relegation risks heading into a congested November schedule.
