The Utah Jazz visit the Memphis Grizzlies for the 2026-27 NBA season opener at FedExForum, where both teams enter with significant roster transitions and injury challenges shaping early expectations. The Grizzlies are navigating a post-Ja Morant rebuild under new point guard Ty Jerome and young core pieces including 7-foot-4 center Zach Edey, who is returning from ankle surgeries, while hosting a matchup that features former Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. on the opposing side. Utah faces notable absences at center with Jusuf Nurkic, Tony Bradley, and others sidelined, limiting frontcourt depth behind Lauri Markkanen and newly acquired Jackson Jr., alongside rookie guard Darryn Peterson. Memphis holds a modest home edge and size advantage in projected lineups, though both squads carry limited recent form after underwhelming prior seasons and must adjust to new rotations immediately.
