Carlos Alcaraz enters the US Open fourth round as defending champion and heavy favorite against No. 20 seed Tommy Paul, buoyed by his strong recent form after a four-month right wrist injury layoff. The Spaniard has won 30 of his past 31 major matches and advanced with straight-sets victories over Wu Yibing and others, showing sharp play on hard courts. Alcaraz leads the head-to-head 6-2 overall and has won their last five encounters, including a three-set win at the 2026 Australian Open. Paul, seeking his first US Open quarterfinal, reached the round of 16 with a five-set comeback over Alexander Bublik and benefits from home support on Arthur Ashe Stadium, but faces a steep challenge against the higher-ranked, in-form opponent.
