Mark Lajal enters the Manacor Challenger semifinal as the clear favorite against Felix Balshaw, backed by his No. 152 ranking, career-high of 145, and strong hard-court record exceeding 65 percent wins. The Estonian has advanced steadily through qualifying and the main draw, including a straight-sets quarterfinal victory, reflecting consistent recent form across North American hard-court events and Challengers. Balshaw, a 20-year-old Frenchman ranked No. 252, has shown rapid improvement with multiple deep runs this season, including a prior Challenger final, and reached this stage via an upset quarterfinal win. Their first meeting favors Lajal on paper due to experience and surface suitability, though Balshaw’s momentum and youth create realistic upset potential on the indoor hard courts.
