Shunsuke Mitsui enters the M25 Urayasu quarterfinal on hard courts with a stronger 2026 record (19-8) and higher ranking (No. 540) than Ryuki Matsuda (No. 764, 19-24). Mitsui has posted straight-set wins over local opponents in the draw, including Noritaka Koizumi and Shunsuke Nakagawa, showing consistent baseline play and serving efficiency on the surface. Matsuda, a 26-year-old right-hander, advanced with dominant victories over Taisei Ichikawa (6-0, 6-1) but carries a lower win rate and mixed results from recent hard-court events in Taipei and Bali. Both players are Japanese and familiar with the conditions, yet Mitsui’s superior recent form and ranking position him as the clearer favorite in trader consensus, though Matsuda’s occasional strong showings on home soil introduce upset potential.
