Alexander Zverev enters the Shanghai Rolex Masters quarterfinal as the clear favorite against Alex de Minaur, backed by his dominant 2026 campaign that includes Roland Garros and US Open titles plus clinching year-end world No. 1. The German has reached this stage after a three-set win over Alexander Bublik, though he dealt with ankle discomfort in the later stages. De Minaur arrives fresher after straight-sets victories over Karen Khachanov and earlier opponents, plus a strong Asian swing highlighted by the Beijing final, while holding recent wins over Zverev at the Laver Cup. Their overall head-to-head favors Zverev heavily on hard courts, yet the Australian’s speed, return game, and current form create realistic upset potential in the best-of-three match on outdoor hard.
