Mirra Andreeva, the fifth seed and 2026 French Open champion, enters this US Open third-round matchup against world No. 34 Nikola Bartunkova with strong recent form on hard courts, including straight-sets wins over Janice Tjen and Eva Lys. The 19-year-old Russian has demonstrated consistent baseline power and error control in New York, building on her clay-court major title. Bartunkova, a 20-year-old Czech on an upward trajectory to a career-high ranking, advanced past Mayar Sherif and Tatjana Maria but faces her first encounter with a top-five opponent. Andreeva's superior ranking, experience in high-stakes matches, and current momentum position her as the clear favorite, though Bartunkova's recent wins against established players highlight her potential to challenge if she maintains aggressive play.
