Corentin Moutet enters this US Open first-round matchup on outdoor hard courts as the higher-ranked player at No. 62, facing wildcard Dane Sweeny at No. 123. Moutet’s recent form has been poor, with a 10-19 record in 2026 that includes multiple early exits and a noted wrist injury limiting his spin-heavy lefty game. He has lost in the first round at Flushing Meadows in each of the past three years after a fourth-round run in 2022. Sweeny, who rose rapidly in the rankings over the past year, brings strong recent challenger results and motivation in his Grand Slam main-draw debut, though his ATP-level experience remains limited at 3-7. This is their first meeting, with both players showing inconsistency on hard courts heading into the contest.
