Mirra Andreeva, the fifth seed and 2026 French Open champion with a 41-13 record, enters this US Open second-round match on hard courts after a dominant 6-2, 6-2 first-round win over Janice Tjen that featured no break points faced. The 19-year-old Russian has shown strong recent form across surfaces, including deep runs at majors and strong hard-court results earlier in the season. Eva Lys, ranked 98th with a 7-15 record this year, advanced by defeating qualifier Gabriela Knutson 6-3, 6-3 in her opening match, marking her third US Open second-round appearance. The 24-year-old German has battled form dips, injuries, and mental pressure after peaking near the top 40, but reports renewed enjoyment and confidence following work with a psychologist. The pair has no prior head-to-head history, and Andreeva’s superior ranking, experience in high-stakes matches, and recent straight-sets efficiency position her as the clear favorite on Stadium 17.
