This market will resolve to "Yes" if Apple officially releases a foldable iPhone by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". In order to be considered released, the product must be available for purchase by the general public within the specified timeframe. An announcement or unveiling alone is not sufficient. A qualifying release of a foldable smartphone by Apple will count even if it is not explicitly branded an iPhone. The primary resolution source for this market will be official statements from Apple. However, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone remains on track for a September 9, 2026 announcement at the company’s fall event alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models, according to consistent reporting from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and supply-chain sources. Production has begun at low volumes of a few hundred units daily, with the hinge now the final validation focus after earlier concerns over display and manufacturing delays. The book-style device is expected to feature a crease-minimized OLED display, titanium hinge, roughly 7.6-inch inner screen, and pricing above $2,000. Limited initial supply could push full availability slightly later in fall 2026. The launch represents Apple’s most significant iPhone form-factor shift to date amid competition from Samsung and Google foldables.
