Tamara Zidansek enters the second round of US Open women's singles qualifying as the higher-ranked player (No. 146-151) with a stronger 2026 hard-court record (6-2) and recent three-set victory over seeded Laura Samson. The Slovenian, a former top-25 player, brings greater experience and consistency on outdoor hard courts. Guiomar Maristany (No. 209-210) advanced past Jodie Burrage in straight sets and has shown improved results across clay and hard events this season, though she trails in overall ranking points and grand slam qualifying depth. Both players compete on the hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, where Zidansek's edge in ranking, recent form, and match toughness shapes the matchup dynamics ahead of their August 26 encounter.
