Qinwen Zheng enters her US Open second-round matchup against Yulia Putintseva on outdoor hard courts after rallying from a set down to defeat qualifier Kristina Liutova, extending a four-match winning streak through qualifying and the main draw. The former world No. 4 and Paris Olympic champion has dealt with elbow injuries that dropped her ranking to No. 121 and limited recent results, though she has shown improved serving and resilience on hard courts. Putintseva, ranked No. 84, arrives with momentum after upsetting 12th-seeded Belinda Bencic in three sets and holds a 2-0 head-to-head edge, including strong return stats in recent hard-court play. Both players bring Grand Slam experience, but Zheng’s pedigree and current form create the primary tension in trader assessments of the outcome.
