Yuliia Starodubtseva holds the clear edge over Ella Seidel in their US Open first-round matchup on hard courts, driven by her higher ranking at No. 58 versus Seidel’s No. 123 and a stronger 2026 record of 27-23 compared to Seidel’s 16-29. Starodubtseva enters with recent momentum after reaching the Monterrey quarterfinals, including straight-set wins over Janice Tjen and Lilli Tagger, while Seidel has endured a string of early exits and losses in qualifying or main-draw events like Cincinnati and Philadelphia. Starodubtseva also leads their head-to-head 1-0 from a 2024 clay meeting and posts a more balanced hard-court mark this season. Seidel’s younger profile offers some upside, but her recent results highlight consistency challenges against established opponents in Grand Slam conditions.
