Diana Shnaider enters this US Open first-round matchup as the clear favorite against Daria Snigur, holding the No. 16 WTA ranking compared to Snigur’s No. 45. Shnaider reached the French Open semifinals earlier in 2026 and has posted consistent hard-court results through the summer, including a Cincinnati run that ended against Elena Rybakina. Snigur arrives with strong recent form, highlighted by a Prague final and a Wimbledon upset of Elina Svitolina, though she exited in the third round there before losing to Madison Keys in Cincinnati. The hard-court surface and Shnaider’s superior experience in major draws shape trader consensus around her implied probability, with Snigur’s upset potential tied to her improved 2026 win rate and baseline consistency.
