Laura Samson enters this US Open qualifying match as the higher-ranked player at approximately No. 116-122, holding a strong 23-14 record in 2026 that includes a WTA 125 title and consistent hard-court results. The 18-year-old Czech has climbed the rankings rapidly with aggressive baseline play suited to outdoor hard courts. Tamara Zidansek, ranked around No. 146-151, brings greater experience as a former top-25 player but posts a similar win-loss mark amid mixed recent form, including extended clay-court battles earlier in the summer. No prior head-to-head exists, leaving surface adaptation, physical freshness after travel, and serving consistency as key variables in this best-of-three encounter.
