Aryna Sabalenka enters the 2026 US Open first round on hard courts as the clear favorite against Camila Osorio, reflecting her status as world No. 1 and two-time defending champion pursuing a three-peat. Despite a recent form dip—no finals since March and fourth-round exits at the Canadian and Cincinnati Opens—Sabalenka maintains a dominant 40-8 record for the season and strong historical dominance on hard courts. Osorio, ranked around No. 58-59 with a 15-16 or similar 2026 mark, arrives off multiple early hard-court losses, including straight-sets defeats in Monterrey and Cincinnati. Their prior meetings favor Sabalenka 2-0, though this marks their first hard-court clash. The matchup pits Sabalenka’s power baseline game and experience against Osorio’s lower ranking and inconsistent results, with the first-round setting on Arthur Ashe offering limited upset pathways absent major injury or performance issues.
